Musica Pepysiana
Sunday 15 June 2014, 8:00pm Samuel Pepys (1633-1703), Member of Parliament, Chief Secretary to the Admiralty, diarist and lover of all things good in life, left a wealth of musical sources in his library at Magdalene College, Cambridge. Performing in the chapel of his old college, this concert features works from his collections, as well as pieces by the leading musical names of his time. From the sounds of Pepys’ chamber and chapel, to his theatre visits and tavern revels, the evening will feature music by Henry Purcell, Pelham Humfrey, John Weldon, Francesco Corbetta, Pietro Reggio and Jean-Baptiste Lully - as well as works by his guitar teacher Cesare Morelli, and of course by Pepys himself.
